Job Summary
This position supports our Johnston & Murphy apparel group in Nashville, TN. It will be a hybrid working schedule, with the need for someone to be onsite most days.
Supports all phases of the design development process from initial concept to production for the Johnston & Murphy men's apparel collection. Primary design categories will be men's wovens, knits and polos, with limited design for pants, blazers, outerwear and accessories. This role will collaborate daily with the product development and technical design teams to develop new and innovative ideas for Johnston & Murphy apparel that adheres to the aesthetics of the brand.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct market and trend research to identify new concepts, fits, fabrics, trims, and print/color direction.
Assist in identifying and designing key items with a strong brand identity.
Create unique prints and patterns and prepare artwork packages to pass to vendors in CAD form.
Create 3D CADs for design reviews and presentations.
Develop new trim and packaging concepts to be cohesive with total brand including trade dress details, labels and creative icon usage.
Collaborate with product and technical design team in setting up tech packs with adopted sketches, detail sketches, and trim details.
Analyze and assess fabric, print, and trim needs seasonally based on market and trend analysis.
Strong ability to see collection as a whole and assist in creating strong product stories within assortment.
Assist in design of trend presentation materials and product line sheets.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field of study
5-7 years of related experience
Highly efficient in CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D software
Able to effectively manage competing priorities with tight deadlines
Experience in Mens Wovens and Knits a plus
Strong knowledge of market trends
