Job Description

Summary:

A well-established, mid-size law firm is seeking an experienced patent prosecution attorney or attorney group to join its growing Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, a proven track record managing U.S. and international patent portfolios, and a portable book of business. This role offers a collaborative, supportive environment with the infrastructure needed to integrate, expand, and service a sophisticated client base involved in complex technologies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications across a range of technical fields.
  • Develop, manage, and execute strategic global patent portfolios for clients.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups on IP-related issues and cross-disciplinary matters.
  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and risk assessments; prepare related opinions.
  • Provide strategic counseling on IP protection, enforcement, and portfolio optimization.
  • Participate actively in business development and client relationship management efforts.

Experience You’ll Need:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
  • 7+ years of experience as a patent prosecution attorney.
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics, or related fields.
  • A moderate portable book of business.
  • Demonstrated client service excellence and ability to grow and manage a practice.
