Job Description
Position: Senior Snowflake Engineer
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 3-month contract
MUST HAVES (TOP 3):
1. SQL Server background (exposure to adv. coding environment)
2. Snowflake SQL exp.
3. Pharma background (drugs, insurance, how pharm business is conducted)
NICE TO HAVES (OR WHAT GETS THE WIN):
1. JavaScript
2. AWS (s3 buckets to store files-represents and functional capabilities), it's a share drive
PROJECT DETAILS (Size, Scale, Scope):
- What is the scope of work that is being completed?
- Middle of migration from SQL Server to Snowflake. All the work expands the entire breadth of the business. More familiar with pharm business, the better. Due date of 3/1 to complete the migration.
- What part of the project is this resource supporting?
- Day to day responsibilities
- Focus on writing Snowflake queries inside of Snowflake (SnowSQL) and stored procedures. Fair bit of SP writing in MS SQL Server as well. Structure creation of flat tables, series of SPs, each structure migrated is the same mechanism, transform data, and then will use JavaScript wrapped to execute in SQL. Will help with process control (when and where). Will also create tables in SQL Server. Not a lot of complex joins, permissions in SQL Server.
- Really need to know their way around Snowflake as there will be a fair amount of troubleshooting.
- Given the tight turnaround, this resource will need to be comfortable hitting the ground running and stepping into a high pressure environment where demands to complete tasks will be high.
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS:
- Technical Environment: Snowflake, SnowSQL, SQL Server, JavaScript, AWS
- Team Size & Structure: 3-4 other part-time data engineers they'll be working with, as well as a QA
- Soft Skills/Company Culture: high pressure environment with tight timelines so need to be comfortable with that. Also ability to work efficiently on their own and hands tasks independently.
